*Before you continue on reading about this post, we suggest that you read the previous blog post to get a brief idea on anemia*
Blood?!?! |
Anemia is a condition in which the amount of hemoglobin in the blood, or the number of red blood cells, is reduced to below-normal levels. What is haemoglobin? Hemoglobin is an iron-containing protein found in red blood cells that aids the transport of oxygen from the lungs to the body tissues. This means that if you are anemic, your body is less able to transport oxygen.
The two common types of anemia are iron deficiency anemia, which is caused by a lack of iron, and pernicious anemia, which is caused by faulty absorption of vitamin B12. However, There are many forms of anemia, each with its own cause. Anemia can be temporary or long term, and it can range from mild to severe.
It is important for us to get the appropriate nutrients that we need. Supplements and eating according to food pyramid might help in this case. On next blog post, we will discuss further on how anemia develop and what is the causes.
